Division I Athletics

As a member of the Big 12 Conference, the University of Nebraska–Lincoln fields and hosts many of the nation’s finest NCAA Division I teams.

Nebraska has won a total of 23 national titles in school history, in a total of five sports. In addition to five national championships in football, including three in a four-year span in the mid-1990s, Husker teams won eight national titles in men's gymnastics, four in women's bowling, three in women's volleyball and three in women's indoor track and field. Visit huskers.com for more information on intercollegiate athletics at the University of Nebraska.

The Athletic Department maintains excellent sports facilities, among the best in the nation. UNL’s football stadium seats 81,067 spectators after the North Stadium addition in 2006. Winter sports teams compete in the Bob Devaney Sports Center. The Center, a five-acre complex, contains a 13,500-seat basketball arena; an indoor hydraulic track with seating for 5,000; a 10-lane swimming pool with separate diving well; and gymnastics and wrestling facilities. The University has one of the largest and most modern strength and conditioning facilities in the country, and a 5,000-seat outdoor track stadium. New baseball and softball complexes were unveiled in 2002. Hawks Field seats 4,500 and offers 16 suites. Bowlin Stadium seats 2,500 fans. The Coliseum is home to Nebraska Volleyball and seats 4,200. The Athletic Department has a training table and study areas for men’s and women’s athletics. In addition, the Cook Pavilion and George B. Cook Field, containing approximately 78,000 square feet, provide a sheltered practice space for Nebraska football and other intercollegiate sports.

The facilities also serve campus recreational needs by making available indoor space for recreational field sports, jogging, and fitness programs.
