As a member of the Big 12 Conference, the University of Nebraska–Lincoln
fields and hosts many of the nation’s finest NCAA Division I teams.
Nebraska has won a total of 23 national titles in school history, in a total
of five sports. In addition to five national championships in football, including
three in a four-year span in the mid-1990s, Husker teams won eight national
titles in men's gymnastics, four in women's bowling, three in women's volleyball

The Athletic Department maintains excellent sports facilities, among the
best in the nation. UNL’s football stadium seats 81,067 spectators after the
North Stadium addition in 2006. Winter sports teams compete in the Bob Devaney
Sports Center. The Center, a five-acre complex, contains a 13,500-seat basketball
arena; an indoor hydraulic track with seating for 5,000; a 10-lane swimming
pool with separate diving well; and gymnastics and wrestling facilities. The
University has one of the largest and most modern strength and conditioning
facilities in the country, and a 5,000-seat outdoor track stadium. New baseball
and softball complexes were unveiled in 2002. Hawks Field seats 4,500 and offers
16 suites. Bowlin Stadium seats 2,500 fans. The Coliseum is home to Nebraska
Volleyball and seats 4,200. The Athletic Department has a training table and
study areas for men’s and women’s athletics. In addition, the Cook Pavilion
and George B. Cook Field, containing approximately 78,000 square feet, provide
a sheltered practice space for Nebraska football and other intercollegiate
sports.
The facilities also serve campus recreational needs by making available indoor
space for recreational field sports, jogging, and fitness programs.
