Greeting from the Director
The NEBRASKA College Preparatory Academy (NCPA) is a program designed to work with first-generation and low-income students and families in Grand Island and Omaha, Nebraska. NCPA is designed to prepare and graduate qualified students with both a high school and college degree. With the help of our partners at Grand Island Senior High School and Omaha North Magnet School we hope to achieve our goals.
Created in 2006 by Chancellor Harvey Perlman, NCPA has gone from "one person's idea" to a full program. I am proud of how we began and even more excited with the direction we are going. As the Director, I am pleased to announce some wonderful new additions to the 2009 program:
- Shannon Teamer, UNL graduate has joined the staff and will work primarily with the Omaha North NCPA program.
- Creation of the Vikes (Omaha North) and OASIS (Grand Island) seminar courses.
- New Student Ambassadors Program
- UNL current students mentors program
Spring 2010, we will graduate our first class of NCPA scholars at both Grand Island and Omaha.
